Art-Craft has designers, toolmakers, and engineers on staff to support our heritage of developing special-purpose eyewear products for a wide variety of customers.
We have the privilege of working with medical firms, lens manufacturers, sunglass manufacturers, optical retail chains, and our nation’s military and can develop anything from frame components to finished frames.
In addition to creating eye shapes and temple designs for prescription eyewear and sunglasses, our staff has comprehensive knowledge of frame materials and the features of each in design consideration – from monel to stainless steel, nickel to titanium. We are experts in corresponding tensile strengths, densities, groove depths and eye wire profiles. Add to that coating receptivity, durability and colorization, and a host of other details. Our experience is unmatched in crafting the perfect frame to the specific needs of each and every client.
Some of the products we produce include:
MEDICAL DEVICE ATTACHMENTS
Designed and produced a specialized frame utilized by doctors in surgical procedures for a leading medical company that will accommodate prescription lenses and features an integrated mounting plaque to accept a binocular lens and lighting device.
MILITARY SPEC FOR AEROSPACE
Our military frames meet the new standards for high-performance jet fighter aircrew: stronger than existing products with the greatest possible prescription lens accommodation, comfortable fit, and sized to work within the helmet visor and oxygen mask.
LASER PROTECTION
We designed and developed specialized eyewear for a leading laser research firm that will accommodate laser protection lenses for prescription and plano lenses.
PROPRIETARY DESIGN FOR OTHER BRANDS
Developed a sunglass of acetate plastic and metal components from the leading international sunglass firm’s design concepts.
E-COATING
In addition to being a manufacturer of ophthalmic dress and safety eyeglass frames, Art-Craft provides high-quality acrylic/urethane Electrophoretic Coating (E-Coating) services.
E-Coating is a coloring process that uses chemical solutions and electricity to administer a protective coating on to electrically conductive objects.

Unfinished metal pieces are charged with an electric current while they are immersed in tanks containing an emulsion which holds the opposite electrical charge. Because of the charge, color particles in the tank are drawn to the exposed surfaces of the metal pieces, continually accumulating/depositing until no metallic surface area remains. The process results in a perfectly even coat.
E-Coating is used on a wide variety of items/products: eyewear, jewelry, car parts, boat parts, stampings, castings, door knobs, plumbing fixtures, and many others.
WHY E-COAT?
The process is fast: products that require preparatory cleaning can be immersed in the E-Coating tanks while they are still wet, eliminating the need for lengthy drying time. The thickness of the coat is easy to control; specifications are easy to meet.
The coat is extraordinarily even; there are no runs, sags, or blobs. Coatings are thorough; there are no “hard-to-reach” or “hard-to-see” places.
Coated pieces are very durable and resistant to chemicals/solvents, fluctuations in temperature, ultraviolet light, corrosives, general use, etc.
Coated pieces can receive additional processing: silk-screening, hot stamping, painting, transfer printing, etc.
Coated pieces are well-insulated and, after the process has been completed, they are only conductive at the contact points used during the process.
